Literacy

“The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more you learn, the more places you’ll go.” ~ Dr. Seuss

Rewa Rewa School is proud to be on our Structured Literacy journey to teach Reading and Writing for the past few years.

The term Structured Literacy refers to the content (WHAT we teach) and methods or principles of teaching reading and writing (HOW we teach).

It is an evidence-based approach that requires teachers to have a good understanding of the science of reading (the cognitive processes happening in the brain as we learn to read and write) that underpins the approach (the WHY).

Our tamariki are proud readers and writers, who feel success in themselves, share their ideas confidently, and LOVE to read and write!
