2023 Mid-Year Reporting to Parents
Kia ora e te whanau
On Monday 22 May most children will bring home an envelope containing 3 curriculum reports (Reading, Writing, Maths), which show the progress your child has made this year. Your child’s class teacher will have told you if you are not receiving these (due to your child not having been here long). These reports are in the form of a progress graph and indicate where your child is performing, as well as showing the expected progress of a child at that year level.
As part of the upcoming changes by the Ministry of Education on how schools report to parents, we are indicating Progress Outcomes in the Mid-Year Reports. This is a major change to how schools currently report to their communities. At the moment, your child’s Curriculum Achievement Level will still be indicated.

Class teachers will discuss your child’s graphs at their 3-Way Conference being held next week 24-25 May. We encourage you to bring your hard copies to this meeting. Teachers will explain each child’s next steps for learning and progress made. We suggest that you bring any questions you may have. All students are expected to attend their conference, as they will be sharing a piece of learning that they are very proud of with you.
The Ministry of Education has a wonderful website where you can find more information on how to support your child in Reading, Writing and Maths. Use the link below and choose your child’s year level.
Reading, Writing and Maths How to Help at Home
This is the first time our teachers have used the PaCT assessment tool to report to parents. Teachers have been upskilling throughout 2022, so we are very excited to hear your feedback! A feedback survey will be sent out to you following 3-Way Conferences.
Kind regards
Jan Otene (Principal) Ian Svela (DP Seniors) Avi Jayasekara (DP Juniors)
