For those who managed to take time off work to attend our local Horokiwi Kapa Haka Festival last Friday, I’m sure you were not disappointed. The rhythmically beating poi and precision moves, all perfectly in time, were a sight to see. Our hearts were full of pride as our tamariki performed and were a symbol of everything that Rewa Rewa School stands for – excellence, healthy pride in ourselves and working together as a team.
Summertime
In terms 1 & 4 every child and adult at our school wears a wide-brimmed sunhat. Over the last fortnight, a HIGH number of our students have been regularly coming to school without their sunhats. We need parents to check that your child keeps a named sunhat at school as we enjoy the summer months. We have sunscreen available for students to use, but we highly recommend that all students apply sunscreen before coming to school and that parents supply their preferred brand to their child/ren, to be kept in their bag for use at school.
Rewa Rewa School’s Community Spirit
We can’t thank you enough for the amazing support shown towards our fundraising initiatives this term.
Domino’s Pizza and Xmas Raffle
Domino’s Pizza Night raised $450 towards the new Bike & Athletics Track for our top field. Thank you all for entering into the spirit of things! All raffle tickets and money have been received and $3721 has been raised. We have had enough donations to make some wonderful prizes and prize draws will take place Tuesday 29 November (winners will be advised by phone and/or email). All those who sold tickets will go into the draw to win 1 of 15 individual prizes at a school assembly.
Pack the Bus arrives at our school 10.30am next Monday 28 November. We would love to see everyone dressed in green and red or other Christmassy clothes – tinsel is optional – ready to meet the Bus! We have had such an amazing response from our school community – your kindness and generosity is inspiring! We currently have 8 box loads of food and gifts to donate to The Wellington City Mission, but there’s still room for a few more items. If you would like to help others at Christmas in this way, we would be happy to receive more donations by 3pm this Friday.
$2 Juicies Tubes Fridays
$2 Juicies Tubes are available to order before 9am every Friday and our student leaders have already raised enough money to purchase the first bike for the new Bike & Athletics Track! This is an especially great fundraiser on the hot days that we are enjoying.
Alistair Pearce, our caretaker and Jan have been visiting classrooms to capture student voice about the Bike tracks.
