Community Support and Volunteers
Behind the scenes it takes continual work to make our school a better place for learning and one to be proud of. Individuals and groups work on projects such as the Bike & Athletics Track development, fundraising, road patrols and gardening. We now need the next layer of support volunteers:
- 2 volunteers who can meet two mornings each week for the next 3 weeks or so to organise raffle returns, following up late returns
- 1 volunteer to organise The Breeze Pack the Bus items into boxes and remind classes to bring items
- More garden volunteers for various plots around the school
- Road Patrol volunteers – 15 minutes of your time makes such a difference!
Our huge thanks to the regular volunteers we already have for PTP, Road Patrols, Scholastic Book Club, swimming help and our gardens – you are amazing!
Padnell Crescent Traffic Solutions
Last term we met with representatives from the WCC to discuss ways of reducing traffic congestion near our school, as well as road signage for Padnell Crescent. Whilst we wait to hear back from the council, they have asked those in our community to consider how they manage school drop-offs/pick-ups.
Questions for your family:
- Do you need to drive your child to school? Can you all walk to school once or twice each week?
- At the end of the day, can you park on one of the streets adjoining Padnell Crescent and meet your child/ren there?
- Can your child be part of a walking bus group who walk to school together?
Board News
We welcomed our new school board at their first meeting this term. One of their key tasks will be to find ways of engaging with the different groups within our community. Expect to hear from them soon!
Horokiwi Principals’ Cluster
This week our local cluster intermediate and primary principals are attending a 2-day retreat where we will discuss common educational themes and ways we can work together in 2023 to promote student learning and engagement.
Curriculum Term 4
This term we are exploring our Cultural Diversity, Active Learner skills and Wellbeing through The Resilience Project. The arts curriculum will be a large part of this experience, as well as there being opportunity for students to work with a range of teachers and other students.
