Dear Parents/Caregivers,
Yesterday, there were two announcements made by the Government which directly affect our school.
Public Holiday There will be a one-off, national public holiday on Monday 26 September to commemorate the passing of Queen Elizabeth II. School will be closed that day.
Covid-19 Changes
- Mask wearing is no longer required, except in health care and aged care facilities. Students, staff and visitors at our school who choose to wear a mask will be supported to do so.
- Household Contacts no longer need to isolate, but must RAT test daily for 5 days. Therefore, students who are household contacts, but test negative and are symptom-free, should continue to attend school. Although we cannot ask for this information, it would be appreciated if you would share this, so that we can act appropriately in caring for other members of your family.
- Positive cases are still legally required to isolate for 7 days. Please email office@rewarewa.school.nz if your child tests positive, so that we can confirm their return to school date.
- All other recommended public health measures remain in place, as we know they reduce the spread of infectious illnesses including COVID-19. These include ensuring our indoor spaces are well-ventilated, maintaining good hand hygiene, encouraging everyone to cough or sneeze into elbows and most importantly, staying home and getting tested if they have COVID-19 symptoms.
We will continue to follow Ministry of Health advice and keep our community well informed.
If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
Nga mihi
Jan Otene (Principal)
