Covid-19 Rewa Rewa School Protection Framework
ORANGE Setting
as at 02 May 2022
Common Health measures in this setting include:
Basic Hygiene and Sanitising
Includes good hand hygiene, cough and sneeze etiquette, avoid touching your face, and regularly clean and disinfect surfaces. Continue to use hand sanitiser at entrances to indoor spaces at Orange Setting. Our cleaning contractors will continue to maintain a thorough cleaning routine and use high grade cleaning products.
If You Are Sick
Stay home and get tested. If you have cold, flu or COVID-19 symptoms, stay home. Call your doctor or Healthline on 0800 358 5453 for advice about getting tested.
Staff will observe children on arrival, checking for symptoms. Under Orange Setting those presenting as unwell will be asked to go home or arrange for parents or caregivers to come and pick up.
Case management
Cases of COVID-19 in our school will continue to be managed in all Covid settings. Staff and students will follow public health guidance to identify who needs to self-isolate and get tested. As at the start of term 2, Rewa Rewa School will continue to monitor positive case numbers involving our staff and students so that we are able to respond quickly should an increase in cases re-occur. All families need to remain on alert for changes to our current protocols/setting and these may be made at short notice.
Ventilation
Indoor spaces will be ventilated by opening windows, doors and any vents. High wind and poor weather may affect how this is undertaken each day. We have a ventilation monitor which enables us to check the immediate level of ventilation in any of our indoor spaces. We have yet to receive an MOE ventilation appliance to use in our classrooms.
Vaccination
The MOH advises that the best way to reduce the risk of severe illness from COVID-19 is to be up to date with vaccinations. Under the new regulations, Rewa Rewa School is not permitted to check the Covid-19 vaccination status of staff, students or visitors onsite. With this in mind, we are working on the assumption that all those on the school site could potentially be unvaccinated. Our Orange Setting measures are therefore a reflection of this, as we continue to try to maintain a safe environment for all those in our community.
Covid-19 Traffic Light Settings
We intend to use the following Orange Setting health measure in our school as from the start of Term 2. Each of these measures will be highly dependent on the current number of positive cases affecting staff, students and our school community, as well as MOH/MOE guidelines. At any point in time we may need to remove/change/add to these measures. For this reason, we ask that all those in our community remain alert.
This term, the main changes that you will notice that are different from RED setting is that mask-wearing for students and staff will be by choice, parents will be allowed back onsite into classrooms, as long as they are masked and all playing areas can be used by everyone.
