Key Points
- It is your Board’s intention that our school remain open for learning during the term ahead. It is very important to us that our students are working face-to-face with their teachers and surrounded by their classmates, for as long as we can continue to offer this.
- Whether we are based at school or home will be dependent on Health & Safety risk factors, MOE and MOH guidelines and how we can best meet the learning needs of our students.
- Our Covid Response Team met last week to discuss different scenarios and possible responses to a local community outbreak, as it impacts our staffing and/or student attendance. An unknown factor is the length of time that this may continue.
- We are sharing Stages 1 – 3 with our parents so that you are aware of the guide that we will be using to make decisions for our school. As this is an evolving situation, something that our school community needs to be prepared for is the VERY RAPID changes that may affect our learning environment.
- We will continue to give as much notice as we can about these, but our message to all parents & caregivers is:
At any time, expect that online learning at home, rather than onsite at school, may need to happen with less than 24 hours’ notice.
Notifications will continue to be sent via email and will be placed onto our school website.
We encourage our families to check these regularly.

Managing Covid-19 in our school community
Stage 1
- Onsite Learning: school is open for instruction, with unsupported, independent online activities available to students isolating at home (small numbers of student absences).
- Teacher absence threshold = 1
Stage 2
- Hybrid Learning: school is open for instruction, with limited teacher support for online learning available to students isolating at home (larger numbers of student absences).
- Teacher absence threshold = 2
Stage 3
- All learning will be home-based. Online Learning will be available supported by teachers. At this stage, large numbers of students and/or teachers will be absent.
- Teacher absence threshold = 3
Note: Teaching absences will impact how quickly school will shift between stages and what online learning may be available also.
Once 50% student or increasing teacher absences occur, stages will be reviewed on the basis of Health & Safety, wellbeing and learning.
